Effective April 13, 2026

Color Scope is designed around a simple idea: your color work belongs to you and shouldn't leave your devices. This page explains what that means in practice.

What Color Scope stores on your device

Palettes, projects, swatches, reference images you import, and your app preferences are all stored locally on your iPad or Mac.

What Color Scope syncs through your iCloud account

If you have iCloud enabled and are signed in with your Apple ID, Color Scope syncs palettes and projects across your own devices through Apple's CloudKit.

This data stays in your iCloud account. We do not operate servers that receive or store it, and we cannot access it.

What we do not collect

  • We do not use third-party analytics services.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not show advertisements.
  • We do not collect an email address through the app.
  • We do not sell or share personal data.

What Apple handles on our behalf

When you download Color Scope, join a TestFlight build, or make a purchase, Apple processes your App Store or TestFlight account data under Apple's privacy policy.

Purchase receipts are handled by Apple. We receive anonymized sales and usage data from App Store Connect, which we cannot tie to an individual.

If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with developers under iOS or macOS Settings, Apple forwards aggregated, de-identified crash and performance data to us.

Your choices

  • Disable iCloud sync in iOS or macOS Settings to keep all data on a single device.
  • Delete the app at any time. Local and iCloud data can be removed following Apple's instructions.
  • Email us with any data request. In practice, we do not hold user-identifiable data.

Children

Color Scope is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

International users

If you are located in the EU, UK, or California, you have rights under applicable data-protection laws including access, correction, and deletion. Because we do not hold user-identifiable data, these rights are largely moot, but if you have questions, email us.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above. Where changes are material, we'll surface a note on the site or in the app.
